AMHERST, N.Y. – 51Թ College’s 16th annual Academic Festival, a campus-wide celebration of academic and creative achievements, will feature a range of presentations, performances and other activities throughout the event scheduled for April 20. Activities will begin at 9 a.m.

AMHERST, N.Y. – Activist Erin Davies will bring her rainbow-colored Volkswagon Beetle, known as the “Fagbug,” which has become a symbol of tolerance and acceptance, to a special diversity event on April 19 as part of 51Թ College’s Academic Festival.
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM - Various Locations: We invite all parents and guardians of first-year 51Թ students to join us for Family Orientation on September 4, 2026, to learn about campus resources and how to support your student's journey. Come connect with our community, get your questions answered, and partner with us for a successful first year!
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM - Various Locations: We're thrilled to welcome our new residential students! During this time frame, new residents are scheduled to move in to their respective residential spaces on campus.
11:00 AM to 2:00 PM - Outside YSC Student Center - Side Lawn: Families: Join us under the Tent next to Yurtchuk Student Center (Side Lawn) to check-in and get helpful information!
11:30 AM to 1:30 PM - YSC Dining Hall: Enjoy a lunch at the YSC Dining Hall with your student. After lunch, use this time for students to get settled, visit offices, relax, and check out campus before sessions begin!
1:30 PM to 2:15 PM - Lumsden Gym: Let's kick off orientation with a 51Թ Welcome in the Lumsden Gymnasium. Families and students will learn more about what it means to be part of the 51Թ community and about life on campus. Dr. Kerry Spicer, Vice President for Student Affairs will lead this session.
