AMHERST, N.Y. –- 51Թ College student Madison Flores has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Western New York Paralegal Association.

In addition to the scholarship, Flores will receive a one-year membership in the WNYPA.

“We are proud to have a 51Թ student honored by the Western New York Paralegal Association,” said Margaret Phillips, director and associate professor of paralegal studies. “I am confident that Madison’s commitment to legal work to benefit the public interest will lead to much fulfillment and success in her future professional pursuits.”

She gained hands-on experience in housing court through 51Թ’s paralegal clinic program, and works part-time at a local law firm, all while maintaining Dean’s List status at 51Թ.

Flores, a Seattle resident, is also a member of the women’s soccer team and serves on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
